04/17/09—Oakland, CA
More Red-Light Cameras in Oakland
A red-light camera system will be operational at a third Oakland intersection next week, so traffic scofflaws be forewarned, police say. Beginning Tuesday, a camera at the corner of 82nd Avenue and MacArthur Boulevard in East Oakland will catch drivers running red lights. The area has been notorious for traffic mishaps, including crashes resulting from illegal car rallies known as sideshows.
04/02/09—Fremont, CA
A 30-day Warning Period for Red Light Enforcement in Fremont
On April 1, City of Fremont began monitoring two automated enforcement traffic camera systems at the intersection of Mission and Warm Springs boulevards.
Fremont Police Department and the city's Transportation Engineering Department have worked with the California Department of Transportation over the past two years to obtain encroachment permits to install red-light cameras at this intersection.

City Readies Red-Light Cameras
Drivers may be a little more cautious in the future, as the city has approved the installation of up to 20 red-light cameras at its most accident-prone intersections. The City Council moved 5-2 to sign an agreement with Redflex Traffic Systems Inc. to study up to 20 of the city’s highest priority intersections to determine if they’re viable candidates for red-light cameras.
